Pink Confetti

2009 April 24

A Wednesday morning moment this week:

8:40am – Walk through Dahlgren Quad on my way to class. Pause.

8:41am – Realize that at long last, there is sunshine, the gurgling of the Dahlgren fountain. Rejoice!

8:42am – The fountain is full of fluffiest foam, like the lightest spongecake batter churned out by hand and sprinkled with pink sprinkles dusted all over. The trees rains pink confetti everywhere.

8:43am – Do a little jig, books and all, high heels and all. Almost slip, thanks to the fountain water splashed all over the brick paving…

8:44am – Walk a little more demurely to class.

8:45am – Turn around before walking inside. Clouds of greenery crowned with pink and a rejoicing fountain, singing that spring is really and truly here.

These five minutes, a complete Anne of Green Gables moment; I just feel a prayer.
